When I picked the Carn’Evil’ theme this year, I already had a head start on the what I was going to make…because it was all about Carnival Food; From Ice Cream, Caramel Corn, Soft Pretzels, Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Funnel Cakes, Lemonade, Fruit kabobs, Cotton Candy, Sodas, and even Apple Cider with Chocolate mice topped my list. The how I was going to transform simple carnival food into Carn’Evil’ Halloween dishes was where the real fun began, and man did I have fun this year creating these festive recipes. So here’s the last recipe to wrap up my Carn’Evil’ theme…an easy, super sweet dessert cocktail made with two carnival staples, Cotton Candy and Soda.
Carn’evil’ Cotton-tini is basically a *Vodka and Dr. Pepper® with a fun garnish of **Dr. Pepper® Cotton Candy which gives it a super charged layer of sweetness, especially the last sip from your martini glass. The fun part of this one, besides just getting to use cotton candy, is that it’s all about the theater of making the Cotton-tini. Pouring the vodka mixture over the cotton candy and watching it instantly disappear like magic.
*I used Blavod black vodka, but if you can’t find it, not to worry, regular vodka will work too as the Dr. Pepper® soda mixed with the red cotton candy darkens the drink nicely.
**Make sure to leave the cotton candy out in the glasses for a while so it’ll darken and get more unusual looking which I think adds to the Carn’evil-y’ look of the cocktail. I love how cool the glasses looked filled with dark red cotton candy and striped straws, lined up ready for mixing.
ENJOY!
