Killer Valentines

I’m not gonna lie, this recipe is so super simple because, for one, I used boxed cake mix and store bought frosting. And two, the NEW Horror Movie character mold from Shaped Ice Molds makes quick work of some killer cake pops! I used the mold to form the cake into each horror movie character, although I rounded out the cake a bit to give them a bigger bite rather than making it flush with the mold. I froze them for about an hour so they would be easy to remove from the mold.  Then I poured melted white chocolate into the bottom of the molds and pressed the cake characters into the chocolate to coat them. Because the cake pops are not flush with the mold,  after unmolding them, I dipped them in milk chocolate to give them a little more chocolate flavor, since I’m not a big fan of white chocolate, but if you like white chocolate feel free to use it to coat the back sides of each cake pop. I added the details with, more milk chocolate,  food coloring markers, cocoa powder and I added Wilton® candy weapons. Unfortunately, Wilton only sells these during Halloween season so if you see them, buy them to make these Killer Valentines . Happy Val-o-ween! 💗💗💗

  • 1 box strawberry cake mix, prepared (use only half of the baked cake)
  • cup prepared vanilla frosting

  • 1 cup milk chocolate melting wafers
  • cocoa powder(aging)
  • Wilton edible fine tip food color markers (details)

Instructions

  • Make cake according to package directions. Crumble one half of the baked cake into a medium bowl. (Frost the remaining half of the cake and enjoy) Add ⅓ cup frosting and mix until combined. • Unmold cake pops. Wash and dry molds. Melt white chocolate according to package directions. Pour a small amount of white chocolate into the bottom of the molds and press the serial killer cake pops into the melted chocolate. Allow to harden and remove from mold. Melt milk chocolate according to package directions and dip the bottom half of the cake pops into milk chocolate to coat. Place a small amount of milk chocolate into a piping bag and squeeze chocolate to add details to the faces. Use food coloring pen to add details to Jason's face. Dust with cocoa powder to age Jason and Michael Myers faces. For Ghostface, add a little chocolate to parchment paper and place the cake pop in the chocolate to create the illusion of a robe. Garnish with Wilton weapons. (optional)
