Evil ‘Eye’z Cubes

Transforming BBQ favorites into body parts continues for our Dead Man’s BBQ theme with this super simple idea to dress up your favorite Halloween punch. I used store bought gummy eyeball candy to make these way cool ice cubes for our spooky Halloween party punch. Strawberries and lemonade are summer BBQ favorites, so I made a strawberry lemonade flavored punch to go along with our theme, but feel free to use any of your favorite red juices to mix up your punchbowl. I added a little pomegranate juice to deepen the red into a crimson bloodbath, along with lots of ice to help buoy the eyeballs so that they’re the focal point of your gathering. Enjoy!

Equipment

  • Large square ice cube trays (see recipe note)

Ingredients

  • 2 quarts strawberry lemonade
  • 2 quarts cran-strawberry juice
  • 2 cups pomegranate juice
  • 16 gummy eyeballs
  • 1 cup strawberry jam
  • 2 cups vodka or rum (optional)
  • Lots of ice

Instructions

Evil Eye-z Cubes

  • Fill up ice cube trays 2/3 the way full with strawberry lemonade and freeze until frozen. Add gummy eyeballs to the tops of the frozen lemonade and spoon a little bit of strawberry jam around each eyeball and then float a thin amount of pomegranate juice to surround the eyeball but not enough to submerge it. Freeze over night.

Punch

  • When ready to serve, add all the remaining juices into a large punchbowl. Add 2 cups of the vodka or rum to the punchbowl for an adult's only cocktail or omit for a kid friendly version. Add lots of regular ice and then add the Evil Eye-z cubes, nestling them in with the regular ice cubes to keep the eyeball upright.

Notes

I purchased the eyeball gummy candy and the large square ice cube trays from the 99cents Only Store.
